During this difficult time where we can’t meet up for training or even talking, I have found quite a few videos to help keep your boots happy. While these may not apply to all age groups, I will work to find some for all ages, but that will be in the future.
You won’t need a pitch, not even a goal, shin guards aren’t needed either. Put your boots on, grab your ball, and head to your back yard…I’m sure you’ll find enough space to complete some of these.
Individual Player Training
I absolutely love the drills from 7mlc. He has a lot of valuable information on his YouTube Channel. He also has a website with a training program. His instructions are clear and explained in such a way that most players should be able to understand his way of training.
There are also several other YouTuber Trainers that I pay attention to and have learned a lot from. Some of them are Unisport,AllAttack, and ARS Goalkeeping.
Get your touches!
Getting your touches has been proven to help all soccer players improve their individual skills and stay comfortable with the ball. Try the drills below to improve your reaction to how the ball moves. Don’t let the number of touches fool you. Most of these can be completed in less than a half hour.
Keepers, while I do not have a lot in the way of training by yourself, please use the above drills and check out ARS Goalkeeping on YouTube. At the very least, listen to the videos and understand why things are done a certain way. Whether it’s always being in the set position and ready for the ball or running drills to get back to your feet quicker, there are a lot of important things to remember during training and matches. Of all of the players on the field, your skills are the most important and can have the largest effect on winning or losing the game. As a keeper myself, I cannot reiterate enough that you should always have a ball at your feet.
I hope these videos are helpful to everyone and, at the very least, occupy some of your time while school is on hiatus and parents are at home.
Stay safe and healthy! See you all on the field!!
